Some homes hold onto stories so tightly, you can feel them the moment you walk through the door. That’s exactly what we felt stepping into this 1976 home—every surface, every corner, whispered memories of the life lived inside.
The home had belonged to its original owner for nearly five decades. After she passed away, the house sat still in time, as if waiting patiently for its next chapter.
That next chapter came in the form of a kind-hearted dad and his two young sons, ready to build their own life inside these walls. He reached out to Polished Home Interior Design with a clear goal: to honor the spirit of the home, but make it a space that felt like theirs.
As designers, we see it as a true privilege to stand in that space between past and future. This home was a time capsule—original to the last detail. From the golden-hued laminate countertops to the harvest gold appliances, it hadn’t been touched since 1976.
The first step in this renovation was all about vision. We sat down with our client over coffee and conversation, flipping through style boards, searching for the right direction that honored the soul of the home while also making space for something fresh. And that’s when it clicked: Mid Century Modern. Clean lines, warm woods, iconic shapes—it was the perfect bridge between past and present.
